History

Founded in 1946 by Louis and Margret Synthia, Synthia Modelling Agency began as a small talent management company before evolving into a global powerhouse within the fashion and entertainment industry. Through its ability to discover and develop elite talent, SMA quickly expanded beyond South Africa and established operations in major cities including Los Angeles, Chicago, Miami, Johannesburg, and Cape Town . The agency earned international recognition for representing some of the world’s most influential supermodels, entertainers, and digital personalities. Over time, SMA became synonymous with prestige, celebrity culture, and luxury branding across global media.

As the modelling and entertainment industries evolved, SMA expanded into multiple specialized divisions covering fashion, commercial talent, influencer partnerships, artists, and youth representation. Programs such as Synthia Kids helped launch the careers of future ICON figures, including Hailey Yvette, whose rise to international superstardom transformed both the agency and South Africa’s beauty culture. Through partnerships with luxury corporations such as Yvette Motor Cars, SMA played a major role in shaping public trends surrounding fashion, wealth, image, and status throughout the city.
